This guy has an idling problem... maybe if he cared a bit more about practicality that the noise his car makes, would he add a couple hundred RPM to his idling no? He seems to be scared using his clutch too...

do you know what a high lift cam is?

Cams make everything better. Although he seemed to have gone a bit overboard for a street car. Add some revs to idle speed and he should be good.

I bet his neighbors loooooooooooooooooooooooove that.

I read his post before watching the video and i was like, man that was kind of rude, then I watched the video and I was like oh it's just a crazy cam in it, no big deal. Then it stalled 3 times. It's either a driver issue or the idle is too low.
(p.s. those wheels seem too big)

Well it did stall out there. A few hundred more idle RPMs might help with that.

It opens valves longer or something... not really knowledgeable on that... VERY low idling RPMs nonetheless and a couple hundred more would maybe stop it from stalling no?

while i'm betting this car is probably untuned or something, a lot of times when you go with a crazy high lift cam, it can cause stupid driveabilitiy issues like this
which is why if you have a car thats predominantly a street car, having something this huge can be really really annoying. They just do it for the sound IMO

high lift cams can make low idles suck just because the valves are open longer. check out my reply to montegoman
I'm sure this car still needs to be tuned for the cam or something, who knows. Hard to tell with a potato video, I know I saw this vid years ago

Oh yeah, my mechanic has been trying to get me to put one in the Montego. If I did a cam it would be a mild one. They are a bitch to keep running in this set up.

Yeah, if I recall correctly, big cams requires higher idling... Up to over 2000rpm or more. Not really the most practical thing for a daily driver lol

They all do it for the sound, but this is a bit extreme.

If I ever get around to putting a new motor in the marauder I'll totally do cams but I dont think anyone even makes a cam this lopey for the mod motor lol

It's one reason why I went with the EVEN LOUDER mufflers when I put dual exhaust on my 68 Montego.
Piss off the neighbors!

More than likely out of tune could be a little cold blooded. My pickup has a hard time running when I first fire it up. After it gets a little warn its fine but it always a pain to start and keep running at first. Doesn't have that big of cam either but healthy.

lol they probably don't.
I guarantee I can find one for the old 302 though. Like I said I'd never put such a big cam in though.

If you drive an F-body, you don't give a shit about your neighbors.

Not exactly true.
I work on a motor with a .714/.714 solid roller and it will idle at 900 or so. It's also smoother than this.
I'd bet that this car is not tuned.

Sounds like crap to me.

Coming from someone who has never owned a manual, this guy can't drive manual for shit. Yes, I vaguely have the right to judge because I actually CAN drive manual.

I used to have this same problem in the mornings with My 98 SS with a giant cam. Only would happen when letting off the throttle and coming to idle. Increasing the idle hole in the tb or getting a tune for the colder temps always helps. Being in AZ summer to winter temps can be 80+ degree difference

It probably has a basic tune, but no tune he would be pedaling it just to get it to idle. Having tuned my own these cars are notorious for a idle drop issue with a big cam. When he lets it come back to idle is when it dies not while its just idling, there is actually a value you can adjust so it doesn't dip below the idle to were it dies.
